Razor sharp, effortless cuts, this thing makes you feel skilled
I’ve used Western-style hand saws my whole life, but this Japanese Ryoba saw changed the game for me. It cuts clean, fast, and with way less effort. The pull-stroke design took about 30 seconds to get used to, and now I don’t want to go back. The rip side chews through hardwood like maple without binding, and the crosscut side leaves buttery smooth edges that barely need sanding. I used it for tenon shoulders, trimming dowels, even flush-cutting, it's precise and super easy to control. The blade is flexible but not flimsy, and the teeth are scary sharp out of the box. I’ve been using it for about a month and haven’t needed to sharpen it yet.If you're even thinking about getting into hand tool work, this is one of the best tools you can start with. Zero regrets.

Delivered as advertised, great tool.
My old flat saws had finally given up a busy life, so reluctantly I ordered this Suizan Ryoba Double edge saw. This thing is a cutting beast. I've clung to my old saws like lifelong friends and at 70 years old and doing woodworking for most of them, I realized I've been putting forth way too much effort in sawing with my badly worn flat saws. When I put the Suizan to wood, I was put back at how effortless and swiftly the saw went through hardwood. My old saws were beginning to drift off square a tad, but the new Suizan Ryoba slipped throught the wood with ease and perfectly square every cut. This saw is a value, is extremely sharp and cuts true. Buy one of these things. I think it deserves a Haiku,Saw saw so swiftlyDust of wood to earth rainingAwe the masters hand.

It does the thing.
Works great once you realize that the blade goes between the two metal bits. :PI have not yet found a good reason to use the rip side, so I will mostly withhold judgement there. The handle has a slight smell that I assume comes from whatever they use to finish it with.

Sharp and easy to use
Sharp and easy to use once you get used to pulling. Remember putting some oil on it when storing.

Great Tool! Efficient, Durable, Super Sharp
Makes tough cutting easy. The magic is in the thin-ness of the blade, and how the proper cutting angle is built into the (flared) design. Saved my workpieces and hours of work. When you get it started and let the saw do the cutting, the blade sort of sings and makes a whispering sound like you're cutting through paper instead of hardwood.

Excellent Saw for Precise, Clean Cuts
This Japanese saw exceeded my expectations. The blade is extremely sharp and cuts effortlessly with great precision. The pull-cut design gives you more control and cleaner results compared to traditional push saws. I used it for a woodworking project with a lot of repetitive cuts, and it stayed sharp the whole time. Lightweight, comfortable to hold, and perfect for DIY work. Highly recommended.
